Scam protection for elderly parents

OkayTab is scam protection for elderly parents that works inside the browser. You install it once on your parent's laptop. It checks every new site they open and puts a full-page warning in front of fake shops, phishing pages and fake virus alerts, before they type a password or pay. They don't need an account, and you never see which sites they visit.

Setup

How do I protect my parents from scam websites?

Set it up once, on their computer. It takes about two minutes, and after that there is nothing for them to learn or remember.

1

Install it on their computer

Add OkayTab to Chrome, Edge or Firefox on your parent's laptop or desktop.
2

Sign in with your email

Use your own email. Read the code on your phone and type it on their computer. They don't need an account.
3

Choose a plan

From $1.33 a month, paid yearly. One plan covers up to 3 browsers, for example both parents' computers and your own.
Can't be there? Talk them through it on the phone. They install OkayTab, you read them the 6-digit code from your email.
For them

What your parent sees

Most of the time, nothing. No settings, no questions, no tech words. When a site looks like a scam, the warning says what to do: go back. It never asks them to call a number or type a password.

For you

Protect them without watching them

OkayTab is not a parental control. You see that it works, not where your parent goes. To check a new site, the extension sends a short summary of it to our server: the address without anything after the "?", the title, headings and links. Never the page text, what they type, or cookies.

You see

  • How many sites OkayTab stopped or was not sure about
  • Which of their browsers are connected, and when each last checked a site
  • Your plan and invoices

You never see

  • Which sites they open
  • What they type, passwords included
  • Their emails, messages or files

FAQ

Questions families ask

Does my parent need an account or an email address?

No. You sign in with your own email and pay from your account. Your parent just uses the browser as before.

Can I set it up without being there?

Yes, on the phone. Your parent installs OkayTab from the store, then you read them the 6-digit code from your email. It takes a few minutes.

Will it block normal websites?

Rarely. Sites people use every day are known and skip the check. If OkayTab is not sure, it says so and your parent can continue. A stopped site can still be opened with "Open it anyway".

Does it work on their phone or tablet?

No. OkayTab works in Chrome, Edge and Firefox on a computer.

Can I see what my parent does online?

No. You see counts, like "2 sites stopped this month", and which browsers are connected. Never the sites themselves.

How many computers can I use it on?

Up to 3 browsers with one plan, for example your mum's laptop, your dad's PC and your own.
