On this page
What you get
OkayTab checks each new website you open in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer. When a site looks like a scam, it stops the page with a red "Not okay." screen. When it isn't sure, it shows an amber warning. On most sites you see nothing at all.
One plan covers up to 3 browsers. They can be yours, or those of family members you set OkayTab up for, as long as they know it's there.
What it costs
You pay in euros in the eurozone and in US dollars everywhere else, with the same numbers. In the eurozone the prices include VAT. Elsewhere, sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. There is no free plan and no trial. Your plan renews at the end of each period until you cancel it.
Polar sells the plan for us and takes the payment. Polar's checkout terms cover the payment, your invoices and refunds.
What OkayTab can't promise
OkayTab is a second check, not a guarantee. It can make two kinds of mistakes:
- It can miss a scam, especially a site that is brand new. Keep your browser's own protection on and stay careful, above all when a site asks for money, passwords or codes.
- It can stop a good site. Then you can open it anyway, and OkayTab won't stop that site for you again.
OkayTab only checks websites in your browser. It doesn't check emails, text messages, calls or apps.
Cancelling
You can cancel any time on your account page. OkayTab keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. Then it stops checking, and the extension says so. We don't refund a period that has started, except where the law says so.
What isn't allowed
- Sharing your account with people outside your family.
- Sending checks to our server in any other way than through the extension.
- Copying, selling or publishing OkayTab's answers.
- Trying to break into, overload or get around OkayTab.
The legal text
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
OkayTab is run by the operator named in our imprint ("we"). These terms apply to the OkayTab browser extension, the website okaytab.app and your OkayTab account.
Polar Software Inc., USA, sells the OkayTab plan as merchant of record. Polar's buyer terms apply to the purchase: payment, invoices, taxes, refunds and your right of withdrawal. These terms apply to using OkayTab.
2. Your account
You must be at least 18 to create an account. One account is for one person. Keep your sign-in codes to yourself.
You can connect up to 3 browsers to your account. You may connect the browsers of people in your household or family whom you set OkayTab up for, if they know that OkayTab is installed and what it does. You are responsible for the browsers you connect. You can disconnect a browser on your account page at any time.
3. What OkayTab does
When you open a website, the extension sends a short summary of it to our server, as described on our privacy page. An AI model rates the summary as "okay", "not sure" or "not okay". Depending on the answer, the extension shows nothing, an amber warning or a page that stops the website. You can always open a website anyway.
We may change how the check works, for example the AI model, the list of sites that skip the check or the warning screens, to make OkayTab work better. We will not change what leaves your browser without updating our privacy page first.
We aim to keep OkayTab running at all times, but we can't promise that it always is. During maintenance or an outage, the extension lets websites open without a check.
4. No guarantee
OkayTab's answers are an automatic estimate, not a statement of fact about a website. OkayTab can miss a scam and can stop a website that is not a scam. Whether you pay, sign up or enter data on a website is your decision. OkayTab does not replace your browser's own protection, security software or your own care.
5. Price, payment and renewal
The prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. Your plan renews automatically at the end of each period for the same length, until you cancel it.
If we change the price, we tell you by email at least 30 days before your next period starts. The new price applies from that period. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.
6. Cancelling and ending
You can cancel your plan at any time on your account page. It ends at the end of the period you paid for. You can delete your account when no plan is running.
We may block or close your account if you seriously break these terms, for example by sending automated checks or sharing your account outside your family. Where possible, we warn you first.
If we stop offering OkayTab altogether, we tell you at least 30 days ahead and refund the part of your period that you paid for but can no longer use.
7. Fair use
You may use OkayTab only for your own browsing and that of the people whose browsers you connected. You may not:
- send requests to our server other than through the extension
- copy, sell or publish OkayTab's answers or use them to build a list of websites
- try to gain access to our systems, overload them or get around the browser limit
- copy, change or resell the extension, except where the law allows it
8. Liability
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act.
For slight negligence, we are liable only if we breach an obligation that is essential for OkayTab to work and that you can rely on. In that case, our liability is limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this kind of service.
Because OkayTab's answers are estimates (section 4), a scam that OkayTab didn't stop is not in itself a breach of these terms.
9. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we tell you by email at least 30 days before the change applies. If you don't agree, you can cancel your plan before then.
10. Law
German law applies. If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
